Home/Schools/Current/Saio Elementary Primary School

BACKGROUND

Saio Elementary Primary School is located at Mansaray Drive, Regent Village, Freetown. The school was founded on 15th February 1997 by Miss Josephine Saio Dumbuya. She herself being illiterate was inspired to make a difference in the lives of most of the children who roamed about in the area and did not go to school as their parents could not afford their school fees.

When she was interviewed by Mr Tamba Sankor an associate of Tebbs SC back in February 2012, she said “for some strange reason my parents never sent me to school and I have always regretted it. I thought to myself education will make a difference in the lives of these children and they won’t have to go through what I’ve gone through”.

CURRENT STATUS

The school caters for 285 children from nursery to class 6 (the equivalent of year 5 in the UK) employing 7 teachers. Mr Amid Conteh is the name of the current head teacher.

The school is presently going through the registration process with the ministry of education.
